At some point you will realize, “I need a bankruptcy NOW!” This revelation will come when you:
- don’t have the money to meet your monthly bills,
- haven’t paid your bills for months,
- stop answering your phone to avoid collectors,
- have a bill you’ve ignored for years and it’s now a lawsuit,
- have a court date and know a garnishment is coming and will bring down your household, or
- don’t have the money to hire an attorney
Do I Have To Pay You In Full To File?
You finally see a bankruptcy lawyer and find out your case will not be filed until the attorney is paid in full. Sure, you can pay your filing fee over 4 months, but how do you pay the lawyer when you waited until the last minute?
Why Does Bankruptcy Cost So Much?
To do a bankruptcy right much time is required to make sure there is nothing in your financial life that will jeopardize the success of the case. It is not simply filling out some papers and filing them at the court. Lawyers and clients who think this are begging for trouble.
Competent bankruptcy help is expensive. We are not as expensive as other kinds of lawyers. Call around and see how much they cost. For fun, ask them if you can start making payments after your case is filed. Then wait for the laughter to die down before saying goodbye.
When you most need the help of the right bankruptcy lawyer, you won’t have the money. It doesn’t matter how much you make the story is always the same. No one has that emergency reserve of cash.
Unbundle The Lawyer Fees
Would you like to hire a highly experienced bankruptcy attorney for a small fee payment upfront before you file your case? Do you want him as committed to represent you as if paid a fat fee at once? I can do that for you.
I can split your bankruptcy representation in two. This is called unbundling. When you hire Balena Law Firm, LLC to represent you for your chapter 7 bankruptcy you can have two contracts, one for work to file your case to get you a case number, and another contract for services to be provided after I file your case. The case number is what you need. It will:
- Stop the lawsuits
- Stop the collection calls
- End the credit card billing cycle
- End garnishment
- Freeze court cases in their tracks.
The Pre-Petition Bundle
First you agree to pay for the pre-petition services to file a bankruptcy petition, statement of social security numbers, creditor matrix, and a signature declaration. This is called a shell filing. You will choose how you want to pay your filing fee to the court. Filing these will get you the bankruptcy case number.
The Post-petition Bundle of Services
After you have a case number, you will enter a second contract for legal services to be provided after filing your case. These will include filing the bankruptcy schedules, statement of financial affairs, means test analysis, uploading required documents to the case trustee, and accompanying you to the creditor meeting. The second agreement is after you file the bankruptcy so the fee is not included in your discharge.
You do not have to sign the second agreement at all. You can choose to go it alone without an attorney (good luck), or you can choose to retain other counsel. If you opt for any of these I will stay on your case until the court approves my withdrawal as counsel. The real benefit to staying with me is that I can put you on a payment plan extending a few months after filing. I will process your post-petition legal service contract payments myself. I know of no other northern Ohio bankruptcy law firm will spread payments out for you like that.
Unbundle To File Now
You now have an affordable option to file bankruptcy. You don’t need to raid your 401k or beg mom and dad for money again. You can have the bankruptcy case number you need now. You don’t have to wait until you are able to pay the whole up-front lawyer fee.
To take advantage of the unbundled bankruptcy attorney fees there are minimum requirements:
- you need a job paying a minimum of $1,500 gross (before tax) monthly. If your income is less you will need someone to sign to guarantee the fees. Unemployment will not count.
- you need a checking account with either checks or a debit card
- you must agree to a monthly debit payment or ACH transfer from your account.
